The back-story of Ordermark is worth telling: Founder Alex Canter’s great-grandparents opened the iconic Canter’s Deli in Los Angeles, making him a 4th generation restaurateur. Alex grew up there and, as the ‘tech native’ member of the family, watched as innovations in online ordering changed the restaurant business. While he could see the benefits, he was also uniquely placed to see a nascent and growing problem: Each ordering service had their own system and hardware, causing confusion, delays and unhappy customers (we’ve all seen small businesses with multiple tablets clustered around the register, and we’ve all received the wrong order). Alex and his team came up with a way to aggregate orders from the various services and funnel them through a single system. The system is centered around a printer, which means orders have a uniform appearance for the cashier and kitchen, and the physical receipt means accuracy can easily be checked.
